Tasmanian small business in Campbell Town is a finalist in THREE categories in Australia’s most prestigious Small Business Champion Awards.
In an unheard-of scoop, Emergency ID Australia are finalists in THREE categories in The Australian Small Business Champion Awards, the most prestigious small business awards program in Australia. The awards have been around for 23 years, celebrating more than 2.3 million small & family businesses in Australia.
“We received a phone call last week advising we were finalists which I thought was very exciting, but today we learn we are finalists in three categories; Online Business, Business Growth Award and myself for Small Business Champion Entrepreneur, which is very exciting”. says founder and owner Nicole Graham.
It’s a tough competition with over 3,500 entrants from all over Australia.
Not too tough though for Campbell Town’s Emergency ID, which provide medical alerts, medical jewellery and accessories, to those with medical conditions, allergies, disabilities, communication difficulties or anyone wanting to wear or carry vital medical and emergency information.
Nicole said “I think the reason for our success is always being driven, being positive, motivated, and importantly always providing outstanding customer service. Continually learning and improving is essential. After 17 years, we have the largest and most diverse range in the world, yet I never, ever stop learning and taking on challenges. Small business is definitely challenging”.
Emergency ID Australia started from humble beginnings. At just 34, and the Mum of 2 young children, Nicole had a serious heart condition causing her to require open-heart surgery, spending time on life-support and Intensive Care.
The doctor advised her to wear medical jewellery, yet the options were only from overseas & very limited, especially for a young person. Nicole saw a real need.
“I started with just 5 terrible products and a laptop on my dining room table, with no business experience”. She now has over 500 products and has helped thousands upon thousands of people from all over Australia and now internationally, by wearing or carrying lifesaving medical and emergency information. Emergency ID Australia is also rated the best in the world by the amount of consistently outstanding customer reviews via both Google & Facebook.
“In business, your team, customers and importantly your ETHICS are all that matters when it comes down to it” if you look after those, all the rests are secondary. “Being able to create a business from scratch and to design new products, that truly helps so many vulnerable people, is very, very rewarding”.
Nicole and her husband are off to Sydney for the gala awards evening being held at The Star Casino Sydney, fingers crossed for our Tasmanian representatives. END
