Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA)
The ADEA is Australia's peak professional organisation in diabetes education. It actively promotes diabetes self-management to ensure optimal health and well being for all people, affected by, and at risk of diabetes. Credentialled Diabetes Educators (CDEs) are recognised as the appropriately qualified health care professionals providing evidenced based client centred care within the specialist area of diabetes education. CDE's support and assist people with and at risk of diabetes, their families and carers to gain the necessary information, knowledge, skills, motivation and confidence that is required to manage their condition and to become an active partner in the decision making about their care and treatment. Diabetes Educators combine clinical care with providing diabetes specific information and knowledge, self-management education and support.
